  • Welcome to Shipley!

Welcome to Shipley CE Primary School, a lovely rural school set in beautiful countryside south of Horsham, West Sussex. We offer a caring, family environment in which your child can flourish, supported by experienced teachers and small class sizes.
  • Our motto is “Faith, Friendship, Future”, which reflects our close-knit, caring community and forward-thinking ethos. Our children are happy, enthusiastic and keen leaners, whether in the classroom or outside at our popular Forest School. 2014 and 2015 were exciting years for Shipley: Ofsted awarded us another “Good” rating, we opened a new classroom and library, won first prize two years in a row in a local schools’ competition for our wonderful vegetable garden, and successfully renewed our Healthy Schools and Eco Schools status. Last year we also upgraded our sports facilities, renovated our hall and continued our successful links with a primary school in Kenya. If you would like to see for yourself what makes Shipley such a happy place to learn and grow, please do pay us a visit – we look forward to welcoming you!

To arrange a visit, please call our School Secretary, Mrs Stocker, on 01403 741298.

  • Our Vision

We value each and every member of our school family, and with the care and expertise of the staff we work to ensure that each child achieves his or her very best.

Our aim is to ensure that every child in our school experiences success every day. We hope that this sense of achievement will give our pupils the capacity to persevere with areas they find more challenging and develop the passion to solve life’s puzzles, both in and out of the classroom.

At our school, the health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. Our aim is that children will enjoy their time as pupils at this school, make great progress and leave us well prepared for an exciting future.

  • What do you like most about Shipley?

    • Shipley has given both our children a wonderful start to their school lives – they are given great care and individual attention and a chance to grow in confidence and ability in a small and beautiful setting.

    • We like the early bird club and the good choice of after school clubs.

    • The staff are lovely and it is evident they know my child very well and treat her as an individual.

    • I have friends. Everyone has friends here.

    • The Headteacher is such a lovely, warm person.

    • You can always get help when you need it.

    • Both my child and I are treated as individuals.

    • We appreciate that everyone is very approachable and I feel happy that my child is well looked after and being well guided.

    • The friendliness between staff and pupils and between pupils means that nothing goes unnoticed or unappreciated.

    • It makes me learn things I don’t know and things I already know in a better way.
