About Us

"Effective teaching underpinned by warm relationships." Ofsted 2014
  • "A caring ethos pervades the school." Ofsted 2014

Our school was founded in the 19th Century and is part of a strong local community. The school provides a caring, inclusive and stimulating environment within a Christian framework. We benefit from extensive outside space, including a playing field, sensory and butterfly gardens, pond and large playground.

    Shipley School

Shipley School is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School and we have close links with the 12th Century parish Church of St. Mary in Shipley. Pupils celebrate the major festivals of Christmas, Easter and Harvest at the church and the Rev. Pat Sinton, our local vicar, visits the school regularly to hold assemblies and talk with the children. We are located in beautiful countryside a few miles south of Horsham and close to the famous Shipley Windmill.

  • As a small, rural school, we enjoy a particularly strong sense of community and a very favourable staff to pupil ratio, which ensures that each child can be fully supported and encouraged to reach his or her full potential.

As they progress through the school, our children develop enquiring minds, a wide range of academic, artistic and social skills and high self-esteem. Expectations are high and success is celebrated.

Visitors to the school are impressed not only by the high standard of work but also by the friendliness and enthusiasm of the children.

Our children settle quickly and easily into both state and private secondary schools, demonstrating great self-confidence, independent learning skills and the ability to form successful relationships with pupils and adults of all ages.
