"The quality of teaching is good, and pupils achieve well." Ofsted 2014
  • We provide a curriculum that is matched to the children’s needs and provides extension and reinforcement tasks where appropriate. Individual children’s records are maintained and monitored which ensure that there is continuity and progression in their academic and social development.

The environment is organised to stimulate, encourage and celebrate children’s achievements and develop their skills of awareness and appreciation. Our close links with Shipley Church and the local community ensure a strong moral framework within a Christian setting.

We encourage the children to develop self-confidence, a sense of responsibility, initiative and respect for religious and moral views.

  • The National Curriculum is taught throughout the School from Reception to Key Stage 1 (age 7) and Key Stage 2 (age 11).

  • Core Subjects are English, Mathematics, Science & ICT.

  • Foundation Subjects are Design Technology, History, Geography, RE, Art, Music & PE.

  • French is taught once a week in each class by a specialist French teacher.

  • All children are taught ICT by a specialist teacher.

  • All children receive structured lessons in synthetic phonics until they can read well.

  • In the remaining available time the teaching approach is mainly cross- curricular.

  • In the Foundation Curriculum for the Reception the six elements which make up the education are clearly organised within the class and the outdoor classroom area.
