School Lunches
We follow a healthy eating programme to encourage all pupils to make informed choices about their diet.
Easy Lunch Catering company
Children in Reception and KS1 are entitled to universal infant free school meals - a free hot meal every day. Shipley is proud to offer locally produced hot school meals by the Easy Lunch Company, based in Coolham. The hot lunches are provided at the cost of £3.09 per meal and include a main course and pudding. The ingredients are locally sourced and freshly cooked. A packed lunch service is also available from Easy Lunch. The menu and choices available can be found here.
Children whose parents receive Income Support are entitled to free school meals. More information is available from the school office.
Alternatively, children may bring their own packed lunches in a named plastic container or lunchbox. Pleaser note, we are a NUT FREE school.
Pupils and teachers have agreed that, on Mondays to Thursdays, there are no crisps, sweets or chocolate bars in lunchboxes. Fridays are a ‘free choice’ day and children may bring a packet of crisps and small sweet treat. Fizzy drinks are not permitted and ultra processed food (UPF) is discouraged because of the risk to health. See latest research below:

Pupils are encouraged to drink plenty of water throughout their day. Pupils in Willows and Oaks have fresh fruit provided free of charge. Pupils in Ash and Sycamores may bring a piece fresh fruit snack for playtime. Fruit winders or sugary cereal bars are not suitable as a morning snack.
