Welcome to Sycamore Year 5 and 6 Class
Autumn Term 2023
Dear Sycamore Class & Parents
This term's topic is 'Remembrance & World War One'. In our lessons, we will investigate the history of World War One and discover what led up to the start of one of the largest wars in history. We will explore what life was like for the soldiers on the front line as well as what life was like at home for the women and children who kept Britain running. Our class reader this term, is the moving 'War Horse' by Michael Morpurgo. At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert's beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He's soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man's land. Further details of this term's curriculum can be found below, alongside information regarding the weekly timetable and spellings. Enjoy the term and any queries, please just ask. Ms Stas |
