Meet the Governors

​Our school is supported by an experienced and committed group of governors.
Mrs Penny Middleton-Burn
Penny is the Local Authority Governor appointed by WSCC. She is Chair of the Governing Body, Safeguarding Governor and the Health & Safety Governor. She is also Chair of the Finance, Premises and Health & Safety Committee. Her term of office is four years, ending October 2025
Mrs Jen Harvey
Jen is our Headteacher and is a member of the Governing Body.
Mrs Lucy West
​Lucy is a Foundation Governor appointed by Chichester Diocese. She is Chair of the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee. She is also the SEND governor. Her new term of office is four years ending October 2022. 
Mrs Rosalind Stillwell-Carey
Rosalind is a Co-opted Governor. She is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee. Her term of office is for two years ending July 2023
Mrs Michelle Weight
​Michelle is a Co-opted Governor. She is our Link Governor for training. She is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee and the Finance, Premises and Health and Safety Committee. Her term of office is for two years, ending July 2023. 
Mr James Cuthbertson
James is a Co-Opted Governor, appointed by the Governing Body. He is Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee and is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee. His term of office is for two years, ending October 2023.
Mrs Faye Oxenford
​Faye is a Parent Governor. Her term of office is for two years ending July 2024.
Mrs Gill Simpson
​Gill is the Staff Governor, appointed by the staff of Shipley CE Primary School. She is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee. Her term of office is four years, ending September 2023. 
Mr Richard Killner
​Richard is a Co-Opted Governor, appointed by the Governing Body. He is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee and the Finance, Premises and Health and Safety Committee.His term of office is for two years, ending March 2024.
Reverend Chris Allen
Chris has taken up post as the vicar of the Shipley Parish Church. He becomes a Foundation Governor Ex-Officio from December 2020.

Governors' core purposes

​The board of Governors has three core purposes
  • ​Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; 
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
Our Governing Body consists of 11 members and operates with 2 committees. ​​
