Our school is supported by an experienced and committed group of governors.
Mrs Penny Middleton-Burn
Penny is the Local Authority Governor appointed by WSCC. She is Chair of the Governing Body, Safeguarding Governor and the Health & Safety Governor. She is also Chair of the Finance, Premises and Health & Safety Committee. Her term of office is four years, ending October 2025 Mrs Jen Harvey
Jen is our Headteacher and is a member of the Governing Body. Mrs Lucy West
Lucy is a Foundation Governor appointed by Chichester Diocese. She is Vice Chair of the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee, incorporating the ethos and worship committee. She is also the SEND governor. Her new term of office is four years ending October 2025. Mr Philip Jordan
Philip is a Co-opted Governor. He is on the Finance, Premises and Health and Safety Committee. His term of office is two years ending in October 2025. |
Ms Emma Stas
Emma is the Staff Governor, appointed by the staff of Shipley CE Primary School. She is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee. Her term of office is four years, ending July 2028 Mr Richard Killner
Richard is a Co-Opted Governor, appointed by the Governing Body. He is on the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee, incorporating the Ethos and Worship committee and the Finance, Premises and Health and Safety Committee. His term of office is for two years, ending March 2026. Reverend Chris Allen
Chris has taken up post as the vicar of the Shipley Parish Church. He became a Foundation Governor Ex-Officio from December 2020. He is Vice Chair of the Teaching, Learning and Standards Committee, incorporating the ethos and worship committee. Mrs Ruth Sheppard
Ruth is a Co-opted Governor and Vice Chair. She is on our Teaching Learning and Standard Committee, incorporating the Ethos and Worship committee and is also the Governors Training Lead. Her term of office is for two years ending March 2025. Mrs Ioana Mellers
Ioana is a Co-opted Governor Her term of office is 2 years ending in March 2026. She is on the Finance, Premises and Health and Safety Committee. |

Governors' core purposes
The board of Governors has three core purposes
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
